Congratulations to our Fix That Sign Winners!

Stomp's first-ever Fix That Sign contest has drawn to a close.

For a breakdown of the voting results, visit the voting page here

Here are the winners that you, the STOMPers, voted for:

1st Prize: Joel Hoon

Joel Hoon’s top-placed sign 'After Midnight Self Service' was spotted outside a 24-hour eatery in Tampines Avenue 4, when he was out dining with his parents.

His entry features a common mistake made by many Singaporean English speakers – that of importing sentence structure from Mandarin or other languages into English.

Joel’s entry garnered a whopping 3,600 votes (39.19%) - more than a third of all votes cast.

2nd Prize: Ahmad Mazhar bin Abu Bakar

Ahmad Mazhar spotted this sign at Block 302 Woodlands Street 31.

The sign has two prominent errors. To fix it, he suggested using the plural 'pets' and changing 'allow' to 'allowed'.

His entry received 1819 votes, 19,8 % of votes cast.

3rd Prize: Cara Ow

Cara Ow found this sign at a coffeshop at the junction of Seah and Wallich Street.

In place of the rather curious "More Sitting At The Rear, she suggested "There Are More Seats At The Rear”

Cara says she chose this sign because she found it humourous.

Her entry received 1776 votes, or 19.34% of all votes cast.

Our three winners walk away with the following:

1st prize: Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2
2nd prize: Nokia E63 mobile phone
3rd prize: Canon IXUS 95 IS

Although the contest has ended, do keep those pictures of incorrect signs coming in!

Your pictures will be featured right here on English as it is Broken and corrected by the English Language Panel.
